Osseo integrated implants can be placed by a maxillofacial surgeon in various sites in the facial bones to hold a facial prosthesis after ablative trauma or cancer surgery that leaves the patients with a cosmetic defect of the facial structures.
Prosthesis is often used to replace a missing ear, nose or partial defects in the jaws, which are filled with obturators which is a specialized denture or prosthesis. This specialised maxillofacial surgery may require input from a prosthodontics specialist as well as an ear, nose and throat surgeon.
He is a Registered Specialist in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery in private practice and part-time public service and manages disease processes, trouma and injuries as well as congenital defects involving the mouth, jaws and facial bones. Read more about Dr Kruger.
